# Welcome and end screens

> Edit the screen respondents see first and the screen they see last, directly on the canvas.

Every FormAI form can open with a welcome screen and close with an end screen. When you [generate a form with AI](/user-guide/create/generate-with-ai), FormAI drafts both for you.

<Frame caption="Select the welcome screen, then the end screen, in the outline.">
  <video autoPlay muted loop playsInline className="w-full" src="https://mintcdn.com/formai-app/XBaZxbZCaxkDZx0d/videos/welcome-end.mp4?fit=max&auto=format&n=XBaZxbZCaxkDZx0d&q=85&s=a80d7c33246bad7006589f7a8831cad4" aria-label="Selecting the welcome screen, marked A, then the end screen, marked B, in the editor outline, with the canvas showing each" data-path="videos/welcome-end.mp4" />
</Frame>

## Find the screens

In the outline on the left:

* **A** is the welcome screen, at the top.
* **B** is the end screen, at the bottom.
* **1** to **n** are your questions, in between.

Click **A** or **B** to open that screen on the canvas.

## Welcome screen

The welcome screen is the first thing respondents see. It shows:

* A title.
* A description. The placeholder text reads "Fill your description text here!"
* A start button, for example "Start Survey".
* An estimated time, for example "Takes X minute".
* A completion count, for example "X participants have completed this form."

## End screen

The end screen is the last thing respondents see after they submit. AI-generated forms get a "Thank you" end screen that you can rewrite.

## Edit a screen

<Steps>
  <Step title="Select the screen">
    Click **A** (welcome) or **B** (end) in the outline.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Edit the text in place">
    Click the text on the canvas and type, just as you would with a question.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Preview it">
    Use the **Desktop / Mobile** toggle or the eye icon to see how the screen looks. See [Preview](/user-guide/editor/preview).
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Add a screen

If your form does not have a welcome or end screen, click **+** in the toolbar and choose **Welcome Screen** or **End Screen** under **Other**. **End Screen** is greyed out when the form already has one.

<Info>
  In Live forms, the welcome screen is where the Live PIN appears once you start the session. See [Host a live session](/user-guide/live/host-a-live-session).
</Info>
